New shoes meet the rain…!

new walking shoes at Romsey Dental CareThe arrival of our new walking shoes gave us a burst of excitement when it came to planning our first training walk…the plan to complete a circuit we have discovered locally of 10 miles…so it was with a heavy heart I opened the curtains on Saturday morning to see a very grey sky with more rain than we have seen in the last few months together!

Hygienist Steph takes on another painful challenge!

Stephanie CarterAs many people who know me are aware I am always looking for a new challenge; so far, I have completed the Clarendon Walk, Jurassic Coast challenge, the Great South Run to name a few. I have now decided that I needed a bigger challenge so have signed up to the ‘London 2 Bright Ultra-Challenge’ ……the aim being to walk 100 km (approx. 63 miles) in 24 hours. Luckily for me my Jurassic Coast Challenge (hence the team name ‘Dinosaur Duo’) walking friend Polly was persuaded to join me on this exciting possibly slightly crazy adventure.

Samantha Price meets Caroline Nokes MP to present the Old Brewery site petition – Romsey Advertiser June 2016

Dentist Samantha Price met with our local MP in the summer in her efforts to get the law changed so that brownfield sites like the Old Brewery get developed for essential housing.  Caroline Nokes promised to raise the issue in parliament as soon as possible.   The site, which is opposite Romsey Dental Care, has been empty for over a quarter of a century with many efforts made to persuade the owner to develop it according to the planning permission which was granted but only partly completed.  Samantha said ‘ I know how much the people of Romsey care about the impact of having houses built on green fields when there are brownfield sites like this one lying empty.’ ‘ The only solution I can now see is for our MP to get the law changed so that owners are forced to develop, or sell, the land if development not completed within a predetermined time.’  The petition which Samantha started gained almost 500 signatures.

Patient Survey Results

We know this how important it is to ensure that we are delivering the dental care you want and expect from us, and so that you recommend us to your friends and family. We had a fantastic response to our patient survey with an amazing 92% of patients ‘agreeing’ or ‘strongly agreeing’ on the range of questions we asked. We’ve put the answers into pie charts to make them easier to see – the turquoise represents people who ‘strongly agreed’, purple is ‘agreed’. We are very proud of the results!

NHS Dentists survey

Romsey Dental Care left the NHS system in 2006 when the current target-driven contract came in as we felt this would impact on the range and quality of services offered – and it turns out we were right! We’ve always kept our prices competitive whilst offering a full choice of dental care including items not available on the NHS like all ceramic natural crowns, veneers, tooth whitening and implants. Interestingly there was a radio feature on this topic a month or two ago where over 350 NHS dentists were surveyed and some key facts were

What Do Fizzy Drinks Do To Your Body?

Apart from the damage to your teeth, what do fizzy drinks do to your body?

In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
