In 1994 Dr Samantha Price completed the training for Collagen - the technique for removing lines on the face by placing small injections of Collagen into the skin, under the line depressions. Dr Price appeared on television in 1999 demonstrating the technique. Romsey Cosmetic Clinic now offers many different types of 'dermal fillers', including one lasting up to three years,- advice on the most suitable product is given during the cosmetic consultation.

Dr Price is also trained in treatment for relaxing the muscles that cause lines, such as frowning. This can also be used to help eliminate 'crows feet' lines around the eyes, and other lines further down the face. Dermal fillers like Collagen generally provide a better solution for the grooves from the nose to the corner of the mouth and can also be used for enhancing the lips. Sometimes a combination of therapies can provide the best solution, and this is discussed at the consultation.

Muscle relaxing injections and most dermal fillers wear off in approximately 4 - 9 months (although some last up to three years), after which repeat treatment will be required to retain the effect. However there is evidence to suggest that the time between 'top-ups' gets longer after the first few treatments.

Sclerotherapy

The majority of women over the age of thirty have some unsightly red and blue thread veins or spider veins. The most effective way of removing these permanently from the legs is Sclerotherapy, which involves tiny, painless injections followed by the use of compression stockings to collapse the veins. Usually several sessions are required but the result is that the veins fade away in six to twelve weeks.
